Do the Primas, Afterburners, Z1 & Z2s only come in 5 Strings?

Nope. You can get them anywhere from 4-6 strings. While 5's seem to be the most popular and plentiful.

Lowphat, I don't see the bridge mounting screws on the back of that Prima. Is that just the photo, or am I forgetting something?

It's the early, EARLY bridge design. The huge chunk of black aluminum sunk-in with the single Kahler saddles for each string. The individual saddles are held down by two beefy black socket screws, female hex screws I believe. BTW, this bridge design has seen alot of action(NPI) in 13 years(is it really that old?LOL!)and still looks perfect and functions 100% as it did day one!! Not even any rust or oxidation, and I can get pretty moist!!

Dave, if you take a quick look at a Dingwall, or any other fanned fret instrument, you'll note that all the strings are different lengths, or that the instrument is 'multi-scale' as opposed to a straight fret bass where all the strings are the same length. This provides a number of benefits both in the tone of an instrument and also the playability of an instrument.

That's one rare Prima. I'd forgotten that the first year of Voodoos had top mount bridge screws. Oddly enough, after not seeing it for 14 years, I still vaguely remember that particular piece of quilt.

WOW! That's great Sheldon! If I ever get another Prima I would want to get the same, oil finish, no fret-markers, Prima Basic if you will. This is probably why I've been happy with this one for so long!! BTY, the FD-3's are just outstanding in this bass!

Here is mine in action for a private party.. Just had a blast that night.. I always enjoy playing this bass.. it is by far the best bass I have ever owned and wouldn't think of owning another. Unless it is a Dingwall.
