Thanks! I'm trying to determine its vintage... here's another cool Hofner model with similar details but no date. I'll guess '80s as this one has a battery.

Both are late 60s early 70s I believe. Someone changed the tuning pegs on the one you posted.

Interesting - so Hofner did an active bass at that time? Either that or the battery was only for the 'fuzz'. And yes, I saw the upgraded tuners. I found a 'history of Hofner violin basses" and that version was not listed so I wasn't sure.

Yes, it was an active bass of sorts. There were two models: one with the fuzz and the other with a bass boost.

Some cool examples - the dark amber Antigua P is unlike any I've seen. (nicotine?) And the 3TSB J w/pops is most likely one of the late '65 CBS Fenders that had pops installed prior to Jan '66. The Oly white P w/pops is one of the rare '66-'69 P's with pops.

It was new at some point, someone picked it up hit a few notes and declared "YES" this bass sounds great and I'm going to play the poopie out of for 50 years!
