I tried running my fishman pickup upright thru my glxd16 wireless and it makes annoying crackling noise that doesn’t happen when using a cord. Why?

Maybe check the cord on your wireless? I have the same GLX-D wireless system, and I love it, but that little cord connecting the bass to the transmitter was too flimsy for my liking, plus I didn't like the straight 1/4" plug. I got another cord from Shure with a right angle plug, but I still wasn't happy with the flimsy cord. So I ended up getting a replacement cord made with beefier cable and a Neutrik silent right angle plug.
To be accurate, I never had any crackling noise issues with my thin Shure cords. But that's where I'd start looking.
