first of all I've only spent a couple of days with it in my bedroom until a gig comes up

second of all... WOW

I A/B'd the pre and post DI settings with headphones and found the following:
1) just like most active eqs, a little goes a long way - I found the best sounds when using it sparingly
2) the detent knobs are a great feature to help know where you are at.
3) the tube adds more tone than I would have imagined. Hard to describe but it adds a "breath" to the sound. Kinda opens it up - tubifies it if you will :) I like to max it before the onslaught of overdrive. It seems to help compress the notes a bit too.
4) Not a huge fan of the shape buttons, but the mid scoop might be good for slap
5) the sweepable mid control is, to me, the best feature of the amp (besides the portability). I can see this being the most useful feature of the eq in a live setting. I'm a big proponent of controlling mids for getting a good bass sound. For the record, I usually slightly cut mids but the frequency depends on many factors (room, cabinet, instrument, mood, etc)

Also, using the shuttle with an EUB helped to bring life to the instrument. I'm very impressed. Great job Genz-Benz. Excellent design :bassist:

The numerous postings and resultant info have helped me out a great deal right from the get go. Also once I decided to get one of these amps, listening to others EQ choices was also very helpful.

I must say I agree that the tube gives it a great deal of character. More than I would have thought.

I'm a huge mid scoop fan.

I am reconsidering the LF boost. I like it both ways.

I can't imagine anyone needing the HF boost unless it was on some kind of old school cab.

My next thing is to run it at 600 watts.

JKT:bassist:

I've run it with a few different cabinets. It's a lot of fun through a pair of my little Yamaha 3-way PA cabs (12" woofer AS-312). I'm hoping to get a "real" cabinet soon to use with it. I'm happy with it. I hope to get to know it a lot better soon.

I just got this amp the other day. It's my first real amp. I'm a newb player, so I've been practicing on a Line 6 Lowdown 110 Studio(75 watts). Of course this Shuttle 6.0 is a nice upgrade. I have the 1x12 cab that came with it.

OK I have a question for the Shuttle owners out there(Sorry to hi jack)...

I want to maximize the potential of my Shuttle. So which cab should I buy(or add) for it?

I eventually want get in my first band. My favorite music is Rush, Tool, Dream Theater among others. Of course I'm a big fan of Geddy Lee and John Myung.

I currently own a G&L Tribute L-2000 bass, and hope to add a Fender American Jazz soon.

So...what cab should I get? Should I just add another one of the Genz Benz 1x12's to run it at 600 watts(2 1x12's) or should I get something else like a 2x10?

One more question, I'd like to put together a basic pedal effects board to start with. What effects pedals should I get to get this started. Again, big Rush fan...love rock, alternative, progressive, fusion types of music. geddy's tone is what I like most. I'm not real smart when it comes to bass effects. But as I said, I just want to maximize the potential of my Shuttle, and have the proper effects ftr when I get in my first band.

Cab and effects recs appreciated.

Again, love my Shuttle. It's got a very modern vibe to it. Yea the tube does add some dynamics to the tone as well. I seem to like it the more I play it.

Hey... don't dog the PA speakers for bass cabs! Especially the 3 way cabs. I use the Carvin LS-1503 as my main cab, and that thing is the best bass cab I've ever owned. :D I have yet to use my Shuttle with this cab (just got it earlier this week), but I think it will pair up very nicely!

I'm very interested to hear how this works out, please report back

My main rig is a Shuttle 6.0 and an LS1503. IMO, it's fantastic. I'm no good at describing 'tone', but I like it a lot. Because it's an 8-ohm cab, you don't get the full 600W out of the shuttle ("only" 375W), but it sounds great. I use it in both a funk band and an indie-rock band and think it sounds great for both (I do use different basses with each band, though).

The best part is it's a one-trip load-in. Bass in gig-bag, Shuttle in gig-bag pocket, LS1503 in an easy 2-hand carry. Love it.

I love my Shuttle 6.0 paired with 2 GB NeoX112T cabs, especially with G&L L2000/L2500 basses. So far I've gigged the Shuttle with 2x NeoX112T, Neox212T, Berg NV215, and Epi UL410S1, and I prefer them in that order. Definitely give the GB cabs a look.

I do have a Carvin LS1503LF, and that cab pairs extremely well with the Shuttle 6.0. LOUD.

It's interesting how the contour controls match up to their respective driver.

Excellent combination. I'd like to hear from someone who has TWO LS1503LFs running with a 6.0.

I have found (for me anyway) that the 1 band of para mid get's it done well. I do agree that there have been a handfull of times when 2 bands would have been what the dr. ordered... but as a whole, no worries indeed. Maybe my basses help to make it easy as well but in any case it has been a dream head.

its hard to not like a semi para mid EQ section, but dang it, i gotta admit sometimes it'd be nice to have *two* sections of para mid EQ'ing. somethin' for the lower mid, and yea, that pesky upper mid.

i guess workin' w/ my demeter hbp-1 does that to you.
