Silent GK MB210 II in SW Florida

So, my little neighborhood group of senior rockstars had it's first gig yesterday. We've been together about 6 months or so and figured we were confident enough to do about an hour and a half of pretty good music. Until. . . Last Friday, when my 500wt GK MB210II bass amp went silent in the middle of our last rehearsal. Damnation! The blue power light stayed on, and the headphone circuit works, but speakers = nada. Had to do the gig with my 40wt Fender Rumble run through the house mix. Passable, but certainly not optimal.

So, I need to get the GK fixed. GC (I know-shutter), can't work on them (whew) and I can't find anyone else in the area. Sooooooo, anybody have a recommendation in the SW Florida area? I live in Fort Myers, so Miami or Orlando, or Tampa would be around 3 hours from here. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks!

I've had miserable experiences getting GK fixed. The local guy effed it up and GK themselves had to become involved. That was weeks ago, and I still haven't heard from them. BUT GK only does warranty work, so sending it back to them isn't an option. I'd box it and send it to Tampa, or elsewhere.

Personally, I'd stick with Rumble. IME they're quite reliable.

Good, this is why I recommend contacting GK directly and follow their advice. That way, when things go wrong you can follow up with the manufacturer directly.

there is no one reputable in the area and if there is its a good bet that they wont return a phone call.

Good luck tho - in my experience, getting amps repaired is usually not worth the money or the time.

IF the service center is truly qualified, generally most quality amps are worth repairing.

Unfortunately, many shops and techs no longer have the chops to properly and economically repair technically advanced amps. That's why I recommended calling the manufacturer to see who they recommend.

I believe this is the correct board, BUT verify the model number on your amp.

Only if that's actually the cause of the symptoms. It's just as likely not IME.

Maybe I had bad luck, but I'm done with GK. About 5 years ago, I had a 1001 RB MKII that fried after 6 months and a 700 RB that stayed in protect mode the first day I got it. Both were used and purchased via Guitar Center. Thank God I purchased the warranty for the 1001 RB but when I sent it in for repair, it was deemed unrepairable, and I received a credit from GC. I really enjoyed the sound of the 1001 RB and was very hesitant to get the 700 RB. Based on my experience, I have no faith in GK amps.

Hey there! Im local to your area. Ft Myers/Cape Coral. Im not a certified repair center by any means but have been known to fix an amp or two. I am a GK player also. If you're looking for a reputable company, there is one that I have used to fix pro audio amps,PA speakers and even boutique guitar amps for my clients and he is local ish... At least way closer than Tampa. Message me and I can get you more details.

One problem with used amps through GC is that you don't necessarily know why they are being sold to GC to begin with. They may have been junkers that got snuck through the trade-in process, knowing full well they had problems.
