Silly Question? (Gretsch)

I have a Gretsch 6119 Broadkaster/Tennessee Rose. I love playing it, and it looks great onstage, but the pickups are mediocre. I'm looking at the TV Jones p'ups, but there's so damn many different ones. What I'd like, ideally, is pickups that approximate the sound of Hagstrom Bi-Sonics. Or vintage P-bass p'ups. Any suggestions?

Gretsch catalogs clearly indicate that the G6119B bass comes with TV Jones Filter'Tron pickups. Actually, it looks like TV Jones supplies the pickups for a lot of their basses and guitars.

The TV Jones variations roughly break down into a) mounting options, and b) pole pieces. For your bass you would be looking at the "universal" mounting options, so then you need to determine whether the Thunder'Blade, Thunder'Mag or Thunder'Tron has the sound you're looking for. I'd suggest contacting them.
General Questions

Guild does have an affordable version of the Bi-Sonic but you would need to enlarge the pickup cutouts to mount them. I don't know if that's viable on your Gretsch.

Thanks. My bass is actually an earlier version of the 6119, which doesn't have TV Jones p'ups. So my question really is: Would the TV Jones p'ups be a significant improvement over the old, stock ones? As to the Bi-Sonics; I already have an old Guild Starfire equipped with a pair of them, so I don't want to carve up another bass to get that sound.

You can hear all three style pickups in neck/middle(both)/and bridge. To my ears the thundertrons sound knarly, grindy, woofy, If thats your thing. lol
