Similar basses to the Marcus Miller jazz bass.

Hello folks, I was wondering are there any basses similar to MM's Jazz bass sound, in the same price range?

Definitely the Sire. Or a Jazz bass with a sadowsky outboard pre - which is the best way to go IMO.

Except for the fact that the V7 has '60s p/u placement. I'd say any bolt-on active ash/maple/maple bass with '70s p/u positioning will get you close.

Sidebar, thinking of getting an alder/maple/rosewood 4 string V7 next month- hopefully.

Between $400 and $600, depending on the model and where you buy it. (Some have forgone the gig bag by getting theirs shipped from Thomann, due to the current parity between the Dollar and the Euro.)

Something like a Fender Classic '70s or Geddy Lee Jazz with a good preamp installed? Both share the same MIM bodies, but with different necks and bridges.

Well the sire bass is interesting indeed but lacks something, I don't know what, maybe lacks the touch.. I was thinking about the classic 70's fender jazz bass or Geddy Lee's Jazz bass too.
