Similar basses. Which one?

If you were going to choose one of these two, which one would it be?

Have you played either of these? With that neck strap pin location and bridge being a fair way into the body, reach to first position is gonna be a stretch and I'd worry about neck dive.

(Metaphorical) gun to my head I'd go with the Hagstrom because it's a 5.

Good questions. I didn't really notice the Hagstrom was a five string. This was just a curiosity, because they look so extremely similar and both have great hardware and both are priced at the same price.

No real preference here but I dig the tuners on the Hagstrom.

I was thinking the oddly shaped headstock and retro style tuners worked really well with the entire instrument.

Sadly neither, as the reverse offset body shape is a no-go for me ergonomically.

But if I HAD to play one of them, I'd opt for the Dunable because it's got some contours, and I dig the control layout and pickguard.

I've never held either, and I may absolutely hate them. But the shape calls to me. I would definitely have to play one before I purchased either. They're just too different than what I'm used to.

I would play them, or at least look at the specs and see what is closer to what you play. It's a tool, not a fashion accessory.

The one Hagstrom I played needed finishing work (sharp fret ends).
