I just finished building my first single cut, 4 string fretless, the neck is quarter sawn maple w/2 CF bars, dual action truss rod. I noticed that since the neck is joined to the body at the 12th fret location the relief starts at this location since from the 12th fret up the neck is flatter due to the body attachment. Has anyone else noticed this? It seems that a single cut neck needs to be significantly straighter over all due to the fact that the neck is attached to the body essentially in the middle.
