Sire V7 Ash 1st Gen or Sire V7 Vintage Alder 2nd Gen

Hi Everyone,
Planning to buy a bass.
1) Sire V7 Ash 1st Gen around $400(it has a fret inlay repaired)
or
2) Sire V7 Vintage Alder 2nd Gen around $600
Both sound good and are used basses..
Which one should I go for?

I have an ash 1st Gen V7 that I love, but I am a sucker for the Seventies pickup location, so Vintage gets my vote.

With the preamp, I don't think the body wood has a significant impact on tonal quality. Having owned both Gen1 and now Gen2, the Gen2 are much nicer.
