Sire V7 pickups vs Bare Knuckle pickups?

A late night out drinking with some guitar playing pals then a bit of drunken early hours web trawling led to the purchase of a Sire Marcus Miller V7 alder...

The wife is gonna kill me. Actually, she's gonna scream and shout then scream and shout some more, and make my life miserable for a considerable period of time.

It hasn't arrived yet (en route), but I was thinking that I've got a new set of Bare Knuckle Jazz bass 60HF pickups that I bought for another bass, but never used and maybe I should put those into the V7?

Yes, I will play the bass with the standard pickups for three months to see how I like the sounds, but anybody got any experience or thoughts on the Bare Knuckle's in a jazz bass, especially a Sire? Or experience of swapping out the standard V7 pickups generally?

It's all a bit preemptive, I might love the bass and not change anything, but I thought it'd be interesting/fun to speculate and hear about other folks' experiences.

^ it's quite shameful what we've become! This pick arrived a couple of days ago!

Why would anybody buy that? I don't even like the film/actor... :rollno:

Give us your thoughts when you get it

Will do; I kinda can't believe the good press they get because I've bought lots of other gear in the past (far too much, if you don't believe me you can ask the Big Boss...), and it has never lived up to the hype.

For example, lots of Ibanez SR love here, and yes my SR600 is nice, but it just feels and plays like a $500-700 bass to me. Thus, when folks say these Sire's play like a $2,000+ bass, I'm highly skeptical - I expect it to play, sound and feel like a nice $400 bass.

Carrying on that note, the only guitar/bass I've ever bought that blew me away as outstanding value is my $140 Harley Benton 70s jazz bass - I play it far more than my Ibanez SR that was four times the price, but it still has an average nut, average tuners and a terribly ugly neck, but for the money Thomann made good choices: the body looks nice, the bridge is great (looks like a simple and cheap Wilkinson to me, but does a great job and looks perfect), the pickups sound really nice, and the bass is easy and fun to play. I bought a $150 HB Les Paul that I hated and quickly got rid of.

I'm looking forward to comparing the Sire to my other two basses, and also qualitywise against other gear like a $1000 MIJ tele. I'm planning on giving it a very harsh appraisal. :wideyed:
