Sit / Stand workstations in the home studio?

Just wondering if anyone has a sit / stand workstation in the home studio. Doing solo recording I can see the utility in that pretty apparent.

Just hoping to see what workstations people are using and how well they are working out...

My studio is also my living room, and my TVs are also my computer, with wireless mouse and keyboard. I can sit on the couch if I want, but for writing/jamming/recording, I am usually standing:

For editing, I am usually sitting (I also have a mini ironing board that fits on my coffee table to elevate my mouse and keyboard to a more natural/comfortable position):

Unless your monitors can move up and down with the desk (your monitors should almost never be located on your desk) than you'll have a hard time mixing in one of the two positions.

The cables would be pretty manageable. I use a sit/stand desk at my office and don't have any issue with them. You do have to get them long enough to accommodate the standing position, but otherwise it's okay.

I suppose that it depends on what's on the desk. Working in the box makes life easier in that respect.

I wouldn't want an analog mixer with shielded audio cables being flexed. My concern was too much flexing can take a toll and some shielded cables microphonic.

I have a sit/stand rig for my office. I don't bother in the studio, because I track and mix on tape and don't spend that much time mixing, relative to playing which is a mix of sitting and standing.

I used to have a side by side racks mounted in a wooden cabinet that I built. A mixer was on top. So I worked standing. When I wanted to sit, I had a chair behind me. I wouldn't want to work that way for long periods.

The cabinet was made out of particle board with an oak veneer on the outside. It was heavy, with the outboard gear mounted in the racks. After several years, the casters punched through the base. It taught me to never use particle board.

When I was a kid, I worked at a small AM radio station. The on air room was a tiny closet, the DJ ran the board and turntables standing. They spun mostly 45's. They believed that you should stand for better vocal projection. Perhaps I was trying to capture some of that.

Standing up mixing, sitting down mixing and then there is lounging on the studio casting couch still mixin with the IPad,
I have just bought a funky old Vinten studio camera pedestal well cheep.

Nobody needs this sort of kit anymore as broadcast cameras don't run 100Lbs with a big lense and some barn doors on anymore.
it can gas balance 50Kgs and I am going to mount my 43Kgs Philips 55" Touch Screen on it as soon as I can find a suitably strong latching tilt bracket.
Anybody know where I can get one of these please.

Looks like a good idea. Your monitor will have specific mounting requirements, the bracket will have to mount to the Philips monitor mount.

Perhaps a job for a machine shop.

I should add, google "military surplus pan-tilt" for examples. They are cool but can be expensive.

Exactly. I really appreciate the sit/stand desks, but don't mix for long periods. Most time is spent on listening in different environments, the car, living room, headphones etc.

I can stand while playing/recording and sit while mixing with headphones. I also unplug the input cables and move the porastudio to the couch in front of my stereo for mixing, too. I just put the portastudio on my lap. It's pretty light.
