Double Bass Six Rounds pickup?

Anyone have experience with these pickups?

I'm new to upright and purchased one but I'm having some problem getting a decent tone and volume without feedback. Also the jack mounts to the A string between the Bridge and tailpiece and it seems to pickup the noise of you plucking the string almost as loud as the note itself, sounds somewhat like a "thud" when plucking.

I have had both the Underwood and Revolution Solo I. They are "similar" to what you have, but not the same. My guess is that you are going to have to play around with it to get a good sound. But if you can't get it to work then you may need to switch pickups. Using cork for a mounting surface surrounding the peizo element creates a softer fit than the brass or wooden covers on the Underwood and Rev Solo. So that may be your problem. In my experience, piezos are like cockroaches they like to squeeze into tight spaces.

The pickup came with two cork pieces but I was only able to use one and it was very snug when I put it in the bridge. I did adjust the placement of the piezo a bit and the feedback wasn't quite as bad but I still can't get an acceptable amount of volume without feedback.

I'm just a bit frustrated because the original Six Rounds pickup I bought went bad within a week and 3 weeks later I finally received a replacement and I'm still having a problem getting a decent amplified volume with it. By no means am I trying to play extremely loud, just at home playing along to some old bluegrass recordings at bedroom volume.

That pickup needs to be very tight in the wing to sound good, and it works better with a preamp, too.
