I would hope every bass player would realize how incredibly rare and amazing what Slam and Major are doing here is. Even Mr. Stewart's shirt defies description.

I had posted this somewhere on TB before about my dad being in the Navy Band with Major Holley at the Great Lakes Naval Recruiting Station. After that, they stayed in touch. Major would send him letters about his latest adventures. I got to speak to him on the phone one time he was checking in on my dad.

There’s a whole Lp of this called “Basses Loaded” that came out a few years after this clip. Very enjoyable stuff! I didn’t know they gigged together, wouldn’t that have been a fun show to see! MH’s chops are definitely more on display here than the record, some great playing for sure! Thanks for posting.

My dad also suggested that I look at getting a Kay bass when I was looking for my first upright, because Slam Steward played one at times.

After me looking at Aluminum and fiberglass upright basses available at the time. I did end up with a Kay M-1 ‘cause of Slam

My jaw always drops to the floor when I hear Slam Stewart. I haven't listened to that much Major Holley, but he's equally great. Thanks for sharing the vid!
