Hey all. I'm interested in a pedal that can give me a good Sun Record slap-back sound. Bonus points if it can get me in striking distance of that reverse echo that Robert Plant used for his harp on 'When the Levee Breaks'. Any suggestions? I'm guessing it's somewhere in the reverb/delay family. Thanks!

I watched some YouTube videos where they ran through the reverb and delay effects and I was surprised how good they sounded for something at the price, but I can't find that particular video at the moment.

I am not a pedal guy but I have ordered one. It was only 65 bucks. My intention is to use it as an interface.

I have to admit that I'm a little intimidated by multi-effect pedals like this, but it does sound like great range of options. Do you find it pretty easy to dial-in the sound you're after?

I do find it easy to edit using a tablet although the onboard screen options are pretty usable once you get the hang. I am not an iOS user but bought an iPad Air 2 for using with the MS+ pedals and also as a music reader for stage. For the original MS pedals I use ToneLib.Zoom.

This may not be what you're going for, but Tony Levin has a King Crimson track "Sleepless" that features a slapback style delay that's cool 😎 @ 3:45

Milkman is really cool and simple. The EQ lets you darken the sound a little.

Any tape delay pedal will you get you started. Be warned though: sometimes the ones with the most knobs and parameters can be overwhelming and leaving tweaking knobs more than just enjoying the sounds.

I had good results with the Donner Yellow Fall.

Carbon Copy by MXR is cool, but both the mini and regular have left my pedal boards.

No, I was just aware of it having looked at it before. You specifically mentioned SUN and I'm sure Robert Kelley had that in mind, too.

I mentioned the Pigtronix Constellator because I just ordered one myself. I don't need the reverb on the delay pedal as I have some in the OPUS loader.

I also have a Boss RE-202 that has selectable reverbs and preamp section that can be isolated for a saturation that is cool on its own.(Large board)

I just wanted a real great sounding delay in the C4 synth effects loop for that type of application with only a compressor in line. But, I also like the idea of doing the Tony Levin thing, as well.

close to 100% sure the "reverse echo" on Levee was done by flipping the tape and adding the reverb to another track before flipping it back and bouncing down (I'm old, and we did this on one of the first things I recorded in an actual studio)...probably a plug-in on Garage Band to do this without resorting to 2-inch mag tape...but I can't think of a way to do it live without a backing track

That makes sense. It seems a bit unreachable in a live setting, but I wouldn't mind getting a good delay pedal to play around with anyway, and it might be able to get me close.
