Over the years of playing, I've taken a lot of influence from Flea and Wooten. Now I find myself doing quick runs consisting of slapping on the D and G strings. A lot of others bassists I know stick to just slapping the E and A and just popping D and G. Are there many other of you bassists out there that go against this seemingly, at least to me, conventional playing?

Slapping and popping

I am heavily influenced by Victor Wooten and Mark King and I find slapping on the D-string sounds fine as long as it isn't intended to provide a substantial bass part in the context of a song.
I do it all the time. The only string I don't slap is the G. I can, but I'd rather pop it.
The only string I don't pop is the B. Just isn't practical. I don't pop the E that often, but occasionally when I'm goofing around it's fun to slap and pop in low keys. Not very practical in a live situation though :/
