Slapping on a GK

Never had a problem getting a GK slap happy. Add a Tech21 SansAmp or some other preamp to your signal and you may be able to dial in some of the brightness you need. But, yes. The Backline stuff is really lowend and basic.

Thank you. I was about to say somebody is misinformed! While it may be GK's low end line, the amps are not low end by any means. I recall a thread a while back where the GK rep was explaining about the amps. Basically the same innards minus just a few features like the bi-amp deal.

I got amazing slap tone out of my1001 RB II.

Contour at about 9 o'clock (couple notches only), presence at 2 o'clock, treble on my bass cranked, rest of the eq standard (for me -- bass unity, treble one notch down, low mids 2 o'clock, high mids unity).

Don't ever blame the equipment unless it's Behringer. It is never the equipment's fault otherwise.

i wouldnt follow any preset settings... use your ear and tweak it.. Norm Stockton and Flea both use GK and have two totally different tones that are great for slap.

I did a rehearsal with the 600 head last night and used somebody else's bass (a dlx jazz MIM) and was still able to dial in a wicked "slap" tone! even with dead strings!!! I use a GK1001RBII and a GK 1001RB and have no problem whatso ever thumpin and popping! BTW what cab are you using?
