Double Bass Slava (Rabbath/Laborie) endpin

I purchased a rabbath copy endpin from Slava pub (for those not familar, it is the bent endpin that can be used in as a replacement endpin rather than drilling a second hole).

I enjoy it except for the fact that it creaks (and rather loudly when I'm amplified).

Any suggestions before I contact my luthier?

Rub some candle wax on it.

It could be the "ball". He made the ball out of different material at times. I had one that was hard rubber. It would turn on the endpin and sometimes squeak, and slide on some surfaces too. His current ones are a softer rubber and are great.
