Double Bass Slight thumb discomfort

Hi all

lately I have noticed some slight discomfort on the left hand, specifically the thumb when behind the neck, in half, or first position.

The discomfort seems to radiate from the upper part of the thumb facing the neck.

I am not sure if it is because of the position of my hand or the way I am pressing on the strings, or the angle at which I am supporting the bass - or all of the above?

I am looking for somethings to watch out for and or try, to see if it makes a difference.

Is it from the first joint on your thumb?

Neil - it seems to originate from the fleshy part of the thumb, opposite my finger nail to be clear..around the Distal phalanx area..Thanks
