Slipknot Paul Gray Tone

Heya! I've gotten Paul's sign. Ibanez bass and have been getting back into playing Slipknot again. And I've been chasing for his tone from the Behind the player video.

I know It's not "the best tone" but It's what got me into music so yeah.

From what I could fine he used Peavey Tour 700 and I think a 4x10 or 8x10 Peavey cab, running through the sansamp and not sure what compressor. I know he uses Proco RAT sometimes but I dont think he had it on for this video.

Anyone got any ideas or tips? I got a Korg AX3000B but dist and compressors are kinda whack on it.

Also apologies If I am making the thread on wrong forum and thanks in advance <33

A little bit of light distortion from a Sansamp, detuned strings and a low action, played with a pick near the bridge. It sounds like he is using both pickups with the midrange scooped. He is picking quite hard but muting to control the decay of the notes. Really, you need those detuned strings flapping against the frets for that growl.

Been playing around with the action since I got similar string gauge (55-115s, DR DDTs), but no luck so far. :/
