Small annoying problem

Ya this doesn't seem like such a big problem and I wasn't sure if I were to put it in the Pickups section or this one so here's the problem.
One of the soapbars on my ibanez BTB seems to easily get pushed down when on the factory installed height. When I tighten the screws the pickup go's lower and after a while when it's all the way down it won't push down anymore, problem is I like my pickups high and I actually did notice a better sound when they're higher IMO. So I set them back up to the normal height but it just kinda feels cheap that this pickup isn't as stable as the other one, it doesn't really affect anything else just the feel good factor. So has anybody had this problem with soapbars, is it normal and if not how would I go about fixing it?

The fix I always use is lots of small pieces of cardboard jammed down the gaps between pickup and body

Unless the pickup is moving and taking a new set because of vibration there is nothing wrong. If it bothers, then the proper course of action is to replace the springs with stiffer, longer springs. If the springs cause the pickup to be microphonic, replace the springs with short lengths of surgical tubing.

another method is to put a some foam under the pickup...

You could stack small flatwashers under the existing springs to give them more tension when the pickups are higher. It's cheap, it's quick, and it's easily reversible.

ahah... now off to the surgical supplies shop I go... both pickups on my Peavey Millenium BXP are microphonic, it's in warranty, but I don't want to replace it under warranty only for the same thing to happen again... anyway, everything else about the Bass is fine, just don't want the lottery of a new one from the factory...

if the bass is still under warranty and the pickups are microphonic, ask them to replace the pickups.
