Small crack, anything to worry about?

Purchased a 2020 Fender Player Jazz Bass locally and during the time my first inspection I didn’t see anything. I took it home and after a closer I saw a little crack? Could be the finish also? Not sure never seen anything that goes across the grain like that.

Not sure if it’s a cosmetic thing or something I should get repaired or worry down the line.

what’s your thoughts?

Can you feel it with your fingernail? Looks like a minor surface scratch. Nothing to worry about in any case, unless it opens up.

If your finish is poly, and it should be on a player series I’m sure, I don’t think it’s the finish cracking. Poly just wouldn’t crack in such a jagged pattern.

I think it’s just a natural anomaly in the wood. Just a grain feature.

Yeah you can feel it with a nail when you run across. Not sure if that leads to an actual crack or a coating crack.

If you run your nail against it you can feel it. Hoping it’s minor. Bass was super dirty. Not sure if it was ever cleaned. The fretboard was dry.

Ok yeah that might not even go down to the wood itself, sounds like it's just a minor scratch. I wouldn't worry about it unless it changes, but that's unlikely.

Looks like it's a small hairline in the finish. Not the wood. It's the back of the neck bro, why is there finish still on it anyway? Break out the sand paper, and the steel wool. Take the finish off the handling area, and rub one coat of tung or linseed oil on it. You'll thank me later.
