So... Ampeg B200R or BA115???

Well if you can find a way to get the Acoustic combo go for it, I've had a BA115 for 2 years and I regret spending $350 for it.

I don't know anything about a 200W BA115? Mine is 100W. It works good as a monitor in small/medium gigs.. Don't hope for much more than that.

The amp does have a terrible tweeter hiss, I disconnected mine and I'm much happier with it. (Still don't like the amp, though )

They make quite a few versions of the BA115 now... there's the BA115T (with a tube in the preamp), the BA115HP (high power, forget the exact wattage), and then a high wattage one with a tube. All sorts of options. personally i can't stand the preamp, so i'd go with the b100r or b200r.

The BA series and the "Rocket" series are so different tone-wise it seems almost unbelievable that they come from the same company. The BA series amps all have a pretty clean sound -- at least by Ampeg standards -- and are all about huge bottom end and rattling the windows. The Rockets -- the B100R clearly the best among them -- are designed to emulate the fat tube sound of the old B15. They do sound remarkably tube-y for SS amps, with thick rich mids and low mids. Old-school, big-time.

Also, the Rocket series amps are much louder, watt-for-watt, than the BA amps. The B100R is surprisingly loud for 100 watts -- plenty for band practice and small gigs unless you have a very heavy-handed drummer and/or turn-it-to-11 guitar players.

The BA 115 I bought, and every one I played in the store, hissed like a BITCH due to the terrible tweeter.

The Guitar Center guy said "That isn't hiss, it's 60 cycle hum from your pickups" when I returned it.

Yeah right, cat. 60 cycle hum with my humbuckers.

The Rocket Bass amps blow the BA series up, out, and away. Seriously.
