There is a park not far from where I live, and I like going for walks there when I have time. Its peaceful and I hate people so it works out. I also like feeding the ducks and reading a book to. However, I've been noticing that lately, there aren't many ducks anymore. I figured it had something to do with migratory patterns or some such.

Then I noticed today that a duck was running around by the lake towards bushes. It was a piece of bread on a string and they were luring it into the bushes to catch in a pillow case to eat later.

I ended up getting into a fight with people who don't even speak english over it. I'm so angry.:mad:

Why can people do this? Should I call the cops on them next time I see them?

"...no one wants to live there and the rents are cheap..." Now you know why. You don't have a cat or small dog do you? Aside from that it used to be a nice place, I had family there in the 50's and it was almost rural in some parts. Now? I tear down the parkway to the Outerbridge and pray that my vehicle holds together as the the only safe have is the biker compound across the swamp from the ship graveyard on the kill. Ah Staten island!

HA!!! That was just plain funny!!!

Now on the the mixed emotions part of the post.

Emotion #1: Yeah! How dare they do such a thing! It is almost certainly illegal and they should be stopped. Call the cops, let 'em know and hopefully they'll end it.

Emotion #2: City-dwellers dwell in cities because cities are, well, cities. They choose to live there for the the advantages that cities provide. Sure, it's nice that there are parks where one can "get away from it all" - but that's just a tiny perk of a city. You want ducks and you don't want people snacking on em? Get a farm.

For the record - I too am a city-dwelling person (at heart) even though I've recently migrated to the burbs. I too would be angry if I saw that happening and I would be notifying the authorities at the very moment I saw it going down.

But yes - at some point natural selection would probably kick in and the ducks would choose another, safer place to swim, poop, eat and procreate leaving these bush-dwellers left with nothing but sky rats to hunt.

Have you recommended they consider taking their skills and putting them to use ridding the city of those nasty pigeons?

Killing two birds (well, letting one bird live while chowing on another) with one pillow case, so to speak.

Holy crap, Batman! Amen to THAT!

Not only are those beasts aggressive as hell, having them around our office is like living amidst a heard of flying chihuahuas that no one is cleaning up after! Piles of green goose poop everywhere!

Nasty...

But if someone started trapping and killing them for lunch, I'd be on the phone to the authorities.

I don't want to be insensitive to the plight of people who need to do such things, but it does seem to call attention to people who are living here outside of the law.
