Wow, what a cool bass! I've found a great disco bass . Thing sounds great, plays easy, and it's got a gorgeous color, to boot. Pics don't really capture the color (Lava Pearl), but they come close. I'll post more when I got some in available light...

My SR5 is my number one gigging bass. While I love my F, and use it in my jazz gigs and all my shedding, the SR5 is ALWAYS what I use live. Because I go direct, the extra cut and punch the SR5 has really works well. I literally run right into a Behringer Ultra powered DI, into the board, using a Mackie powered system. Nothing else. I play with all the EQ flat. And the sound kills. Our band does our originals, and we cover everything from Billy Joel to Aretha to Dave Matthews to Neil Diamond, and it works for all of it.

My SR5 is an exact dupe of yours. The Lava Pearl finish is a trip - it seems as if the human eye perceives it differently depending on the intensity, quality, and origin of the light source. As a result, it's hard to capture the color digitally. I'm of the opinion that there's actually more orange in the mix than the photo above depicts.

I play a J Bass around 80% of the time on gigs. SR5 basses occupy a different place in the audio spectrum than a J Bass does. I regard it as a more "centered" tone that arguably sits in the mix better than most other axes, regardless of price. Took me a while to really get comfortable with the tight string spacing, but I'm cool with it now.

This is a classic "must own" instrument in my eyes - enjoy the new bass !
