I need to rearrange some stuff in the hole. I have 3 of these standard Guitar stands and they serve well. Ya know the ones which the neck sits in a cradle with 2 prongs for the body to sit on. Problem is they eat a lot of floor space. I also have a guitar rack holds 6 guitars sideways. I wanna hear opinions here. Is this type of rack better, the same or oh hell no for storage of my basses. I play each everyday. So they get moved around a lot. Just wondering what's better for my babies. The room they are in is temp and humidity stable. Thanks.

The floor stands for 3-5 basses are just fine. The more basses you own, the more they make sense. My recommendation would be to use one or more of those, plus a single stand of your choice for the bass you’re playing at the moment.

I have a half-dozen single stands (two folding Ultimates and a pair of small folding stands, plus a couple of random standard stands), and a Hercules triple hanger floor stand, plus one of those 6-guitar racks that go against the wall.

Before moving my music room, I put two 1x4 oak strips along the wall strategically spaced, mounted guitar hangers on them, and hung a dozen basses on one 8' tall by 12' wide wall.

Just do what fits your space. The 6-guitar racks are the most space efficient, but it's difficult to get wide-bodies acoustic or semi-acoustic basses on and out without hitting other basses.

I have the Hercules 5 instrument stand and they sell extra holders. I have it holding 9 basses with no problem at all concerning weight or enough room for the instruments. I believe there are a couple semi hollows on there also. Easy access as I like to play all of them. When they are in cases in the closet they don't get enough love.
