So i just got my DR strings...

So after trolling the forums the general consensus was that DR nickel low riders were the string of choice for warwicks. I excitedly ordered my set and when they came in I set off to string them up right away and it was all going according to plan right up until I got to the low "B" string. They Don't fit! There appears to be a taper near then end of the string that will not fit into the warwick 2 piece bridge. Short of widening the slot on the bridge (the rear portion) I don't know how to get it to fit. So if there are any of you out there that have experienced this problem or have ideas on how to fix it I would sure appreciate the help.

Did you get .130 B strings maybe?

What some users do is crimp those ends with some needle nose pliers...

I think you just have to shove it in. I've had a few b strings that needed a bit of push

Yep, try to crimp it or file the bridge. I filed the bridge so I didn't need to crimp a new string every time.

aight thanks guys, ill crimp it. I didn't think it would be a problem since i got the 125's but i guess that is just a bit to big. And there is no getting it in there without crimping it lol.

I do wish DR would offer all of their B strings tapered instead of just a select few...and .135's in nickel.

I use DR strings all the time with my Warwicks and I even have this issue with E strings as well as Bs. You can use a vise grip and smash the end of the string and yes it will work just fine it does not affect the string as far as strength or anything you have to flatten it about 3/4 to 1/2 of an inch.

The easiest thing to do that I have found is I have a bolt with a huge flat top and it’s a machine bolt so the thread end is flat and I take a good old hammer and against the cement floor in my garage I have flattened many a string for my Warwicks. It’s just a fact of life and it’s easy as just a few hits much easier than taking a file to your bridge.

I do use black label Warwick strings too and then there is no issue at all.

Use vise grip pliers and gradually crimp the end. I do it all the time for my Spector's. It will work.

I would highly encourage to contact DR's customer service. I had a small mishap with a new set of High Beams and they took immediate and excellent care of the situation.

So.... after reading the responses I took the b string out into the garage. I placed it on flat on the concrete floor and attacked it with a hammer. The string now fits perfectly. Thanks all for your help. You guys rock!

Go get a metal file from home depo and widen the slots on bridge peices so you can use the strings you want. This is quite literally warwicks reccomendation for folks who dont want to use their strings. " go get metal file and widen the slots".This is really a sad thing on wearwicks part to since the bridges wont fit some of their offered strings either. lol.

I'd argue that it's an issue with every string manufacturer that does not taper their .100+ gauge strings.

I am a recent new Warwick owner and their strings are not in stock anywhere nearby. I put on a set of Slinkys and used vise grips to flatten the 130 B string and it worked but it is frustrating that a standard string doesn't fit without some fooling around.
