I'm compiling a group of transcriptions for my grad students this semester and would love to include a recording by the Fred Hersch Trio of a tune called "So In Love (Am I)", which I believe is a Cole Porter tune. However, I can't find a lead sheet for the tune, and Fred's arrangement sounds like...well, let's just say I don't imagine it sounds anything like Cole Porter's original version. :D I have an index which lists this tune as being in the Real Book III, but I don't have that book and can't find a lead sheet representing the original anywhere else.

Does anybody have a sheet on this tune? If so, I'd love to see it - Fred's take is gorgeous, but I always like to know more about the original before working too hard on a transcription. Any and all info will be appreciated.

The rekkid with Charlie and Joey Baron, they do that as kind of a "straight 8" 4/4, but when I heard the band with Drew Gress and Tom Rainey (lo those many years ago), they played it in 5.
Which arrangement are you doing?

Yup! Chick's version is good, but Fred's version is an example of "over the barline phrasing of melodic motives", which is usually what I use the Fred transcription to illustrate for the class. Plus, he plays the meaning of the lyrics beautifully on the cut (and I know this thanks to the good folks at TB!).

BTW, I believe the song is from the show 'Kiss Me Kate'

I have a funny story about this tune, and if no one minds, I think you will all enjoy it.

I was playing with the singer for a little while who's skills were questionable. We played this tune a bit and I really dug it, beautiful melody and such. So I went to play through it about 4 months after my stint with her had ended, only to find out that she was singing so many wrong notes that it sounded beautiful. She made it to lots of flat nines, sharp fives, you name it. Now, the actually melody is still nice, but it was just a funny experience.
