I go for cables that work. And I never spend a lot of money...so a specific price point is not relevant.

I guarantee all here that I personally cannot hear any difference based on cable. And if I can't, the audience darn sure can't tell a difference in the mix.

Cables are disposable, but if you don't talk walk all over them, they last a lot longer.

At gigs, I often go wireless. Thanks, Ebay.

Your hearing is good enough to tell the difference in tone from your cables? I look for a good quality, durable and quiet cable that is 20'-21'.

I make most of my cables and have since I started playing in 1967. Give me a good, shielded cable, with Switchcraft or Neutrik plugs and I'm happy. I know how to make the ends solid and less likely to fail (drop of superglue between the strain "clamp" and the cable.)

I have only active instruments so cable capacitance is immaterial to me. With passive guitars, I want low impedance cable.

Sturdy cable, with sufficient shielding, and flexibility is important. There are many commercial cables that fit the bill.

Monster Cables aren't among them. I repaired cords that came back under warranty when I was an amp tech at a rather large music store. I repaired more bad Monster Cables than all other brands combined. It wasn't even close. Monsters had pretty plugs but they were weak and easily failed. Very, very tone sucking high impedance as well.

Been using Whirlwind for decades but recently bought a Mogami with a RA silent plug. Love it. I've bought several of those GC cables that have the blue shrink wrap. They have all failed within months. Always go back to my old Whirlwinds. Can't kill those.

I bought a Chinese cloth covered 15' cable at GC for $17 and used it for a few months with no problems. I went back to get another one and they had them on sale for 5 bucks! I bought four of them. Even if they fail after a while I have a bunch of them.

They are surprisingly well built. The cloth covering is very resistant to twisting and they don't hum or crackle when I move them around even at high volume. I use one with my Strat and the sound is as bright and chimey as with any of the other cables I have.

I use Monster and Mogami.

By the way, a manager at my local Guitar Center told me that they will dropping Monster due to the fact that Monster is not honoring the free replacement warranty so GC is getting stuck with the cables without reimbursement from Monster.

Planet Waves. I bought a slew of them (5?) from a fellow TBer years ago. Haven't killed one yet although one was nicked by an ex-bandmate...but getting rid of him was worth the loss. Jerry Z. in Rochester fixed me up with a Whirlwind which is also exceptionally nice.
