SolidGoldFX Beta MkI vs MkII - Is the new one worth it?

Title pretty much says it all I think.

I have a guy who's selling a MkI used for a bit over half the price of what I can buy a MkII new for.

Is the MkII "better"? Or are there enough changes to the circuit to warrant spending the money?

It depends what you want to use it for. If it's as an overdrive, I think you're fine with the MKI. As I understand it the MkII is basically the same sound, going from "motown" vintage thump to nice medium gain crunch, it just gives you finer control within that range by having dedicated preamp/overdrive modes. A lot of fans of the original Beta loved using it as a preamp instead of overdrive and wanted to have no gain drive at all since even at the lowest gain setting on the MKI there's still a tiny amount of breakup.
