Solo bass part not loud enough

I think with a pedal booster you can solve the problem...

But the "octave idea" is a very good idea! What if... you use an octave pedal, so you can have lows and add an octave up?

Maybe you can have an interesting sound with that!

Those little knobs on the bass labeled "volume" usually are useful tools. Just play with it up 1/2 or 3/4 most of the time and when time for a solo boost it to max. EQ changes are a very possible partial solution as well. But if you like your tone the way it is then what you want is purely volume change.

The reason people are saying he is to low in the mix is because if no one else is playing theres no reason he needs to be louder. Hes just to quite. Like likely he's playing a part were the guitars are holding a chord and its him and drums. everyone is so much louder that even though they arent really playing and he's the focus part he just cant be heard.

Turning up may or may not help. Its likely EQ issues and between the entire band. Guitar players with to much low end, Bass player, to much low end, not enough mids.

It could also be the ridiculously low tuning most metal bands feel the need to play in.

If its none of those them my recommendation is a MXR Micro amp in the loop.

I'll second the EQ suggestion, WCRILEY is correct about the the whole band mixing properly and such. But for those that haven't accomplished that art/skill yet I believe boosting mids (or regaining them) will help solve the issue. My suggestion is roll back the tone knob on your bass to a more trebely tone when you are playing your solo section to be heard easier by everybody and roll it back to your normal position when everyone is playing again. I would experiment on hand positioning and knobs on your bass before adding a pedal or some kind of equipment other than what you have. Remember that it is harder to hear low frequencies than higher ones, so when asked to do something solo you want those higher frequencies IMO. Regardless I hope you find the result your are looking for!
