Soloing is probably the last things that should come to mind when playing bass.

The groove is the bassist's solo! Every note, every beat, he must lay it down.

Do you really believe this? I mean, support is our primary function in a band context, but I think I speak for more than just myself when I say that for someone who is constantly trying to improve their musicianship, you've gotta step beyond that every now and then and take a solo. I'd rather be a musician that plays bass than a slave to the groove 24/7
