Hey, I've wondered about these the whole time I've been on here, I used to think the cab and head was the end all, be all but seeing all the full racks on here, I gots some quick questions.

1. What's a poweramp?

2. What's a preamp?

3. What are ohm's and which are compatible with what?

These questions have been thoroughly answered already. Check the amp forum stickys and have a go at searching as well.

Really basically, a pre-amp is a tone shaping device that also boosts the level of your instrument so it can be interfaced with a power amp.

A power amp drives the speakers.

Ohms is a unit of electrical resistance, and more information can be found in heaping great piles all over this forum and the internet in general.
