Some rack advice please!

Hey guys, just got hold of a numark dimension 4 power amp as somebody I know is leaving the country..he sorted me out a nice 6U rack too!
Currently i run a peavey tour 700 and like the tone I get and now with this power amp I can run both my cabs without fearing my amp may blow as the cabs are both 4ohm.
I have been looking about and im pretty sure i want to get a dbx 160a compressor and some kind of eq..probably dbx as well. Would i still need some kind of pre amp?
I also tested my peavey through the power amp using the fx send..it sounded pretty much how i'd like it to..but it seems like a lot of weight to cart about if getting a couple of different rack units will save me having to use the peavey just for its pre amp.

I'd ditch the Peavey (or save as backup) and start looking for a used rackmount or pedal preamp. Lots of options depending on what sound you're after. That should negate the need for an EQ, and you can put the compressor in the effects loop of your preamp.

Sansamp RPM's and RBI's get high marks from just about everyone around here.
I have an RBI and I'm sold on it. You should be able to pick either up for around $200 in good used condition, around $300 new.
