Something Wicked This Way Comes...

A Hammersmith P4 is on its way to my grubby little hands.

There's a pic of it on Facebook: Invalid Link Removed

If you don't have Facebook, here it is on imgur:

Since I couldn't decide between a black pickguard, and a tort pickguard, @MarkoYYZ sent both to me!

I vote tort, but I feel your indecision... I have a black-on-black Jazz that looks dead sexy.

I wonder if good FB traffic and TB buzz is enough to kill the incentive for completing their website. I guess they're still paying for hosting.

Yeah. That lack of a website is frustrating. I think (think, don't know) that the guy who was making it for them had some personal issues that kept he m from completing it. Not sure why it's still not done.

It's frustrating for us also, though the hosting costs are fairly minor... if nothing else it gives us proper email addresses. Not to go spilling every little detail, but yes, the guy we invested a lot of time and money into - even flying him to NAMM to take photos and videos - has all but abandoned us, and without a lot of the content (photos, etc...) that he had been paid for. The divorce hammer fell on him a couple of months back and his life has been turned upside down, which in turn flipped our web plans upside down. I had some time earlier in the spring to get the hang of doing some of the WordPress type stuff and looked to be on track to get a temporarily complete/functioning site released, but my time has since been entirely consumed by A) my lighting company and B) keeping the orders, builds and FB going.

So yes, facebook really has been that good for us. We sell 2 or 3 basses a week at this point, plus whatever demo/player/sample basses we add into the mix as well - which is quite amazing considering that we launched in January at NAMM and don't yet have a proper website. I think with TB, the buyers here are maybe more savvy, or more snobby (in the good way) and want a little more "show me" before we pick up any steam here. We've had a few sales (some pre-arranged road-test deals) and a half dozen builds we've taken deposits for - mostly 5 stringers - but it's maybe 1/5th of our present customer base. For now :)

Mine comes with a black pickguard AND a tort pickguard. Choice is power. POWER OVERWHELMING!
Yup. The program we intend to run will be everything that the *F-brand "Mod Shop" should be, but isn't. The problem with being "all choice" is that people can't decide. I'll post pictures of a finished build, and then receive an immediate follow up order (or two) for the exact same bass... so the power of "standard models" or a very good online gallery of finished basses is not to be underestimated. The builder tool will be a huge help once that is added to the site.

I do get the furstration, but at the same time it's also making sure we don't get too ahead of ourselves. If the site was up and our orders doubled, we'd probably be having problems right now in terms of not having necks and bodies in stock, or having to give people 6 month lead times.

As for this bass - I have to admit that I think I like the black better. Perhaps a different Tort would stand out in a way I like more (and we have a custom tort in the works), but you'll have fun changing things up at some point. I should have reminded you about trying a reverse P guard as well, but you could always order one later.
