Songs That Make You Cringe

Going to have to strongly disagree that Jay-Z doesn't have any talent. That's ridiculous....you might not like his music, but that guy has been hired by many artists to produce and write hits for them...and he produces hit after hit...

Anyway, to answer the original question, "Hotel California." I've had to endure playing that in two different cover bands, and hated playing every second of it. Just hate that song, and no clue why anybody likes it.

I'll join in. Let me start by saying, some of you may look at my list and say, "hey, I like that stuff!" If you do great, keep on enjoying it, don't stop on my account. I'm just stating one man's opinion.

Now then,

Any country music after about 1993-1994. In my opinion, the problem with todays country, is that it sounds like it isn't really sure what it's trying to be. Rock? metal? Synth? Top 40? Hmm, anything but country. Also seems to be a lot of playing stuff, just for the sake of playing it. True, roots and fifths do not define country bass. I think that there seems to be a trend to play a lot of notes, just for the sake of playing them.

Anything by the Black Eyed Peas. After watching the remake of The Poseidon adventure, I realized that Fergie can sing well, if she wants to. I'm no fan of the Peas though, and in that setting she does nothing for me.

The Rolling Stones, except for Gimme Shelter, and I know its only rock n' roll. Oh, I did like Hang Fire, but thats it.

The Allman Brothers.

George Thorogood (sp) How many songs about drinking do we keep needing to hear over and over?

Lynyrd Skynrd after the plane crash.

Mustang sally, played to death

I Found Somebody by Glen Frye (sp)

Abracadabra ranks up there with crappy songs

American Pie

All along the Watchtower from Hendrix-sorry, that song does nothing for me

If I think of more, I'll let you know.

Anything from Disney's cookie cutter candypop machine, and anything like it. Brilliant marketing though - get preteen/teen girls screaming your name and you're a multimillionaire.

I hope the musicians backing the Montanas and Biebers of the world are decently paid - I pity them :bassist:

Does anyone else hate "Hill Country Review" by the band of the same name? If you listen to the Jam On station on Sirius, then you know what I'm talking about... they play it all the time. Every time I hear those first notes, I change the channel asap. I swear it's been in the Jam On rotation for 2 years now. AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGG!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That pile of romanticized stinky cheese, ruled every single, damn prom in the early 70's. Worse yet, I had to play it in a couple of cover bands back then too! So have a lot of you my fellow, now more mature bass playing friends. Yes we paid our dues.

I guess the only good part was that every hormonally fueled young man back then, was guaranteed at least one belly touching slow dance with his sweetie when that song played.;)
