Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter PRO (pics and clips)

This is probably my favorite filter right now. I can use it to replace almost every envelope filter I use in my band and the experimental potential in this pedal will keep me far from bored for months.

There is one song my band has that the Mutron may still own but it's a close call, I may have to record a clip with each filter and poll it here on TB to see what sound best.

So far I only need clean tone and 4 different envelope filter tones to make it through a show, a twin filter tone(7), a vocal filter tone (16), a sweat peaky slap tone (12 or 13) and a Mutronish tone (2 with increase Q). The EQ, choice of were to apply it and blend control make the tones out of the Pro far better than those out of the BEF which was still in my top three filter choices before the Pro arrived. I plan on playing next weeks gig with just the BEF Pro.

I can't wait until the next Souce Audio Bass product comes out, I hope it is a synthy delight. The only synth sounds I have been able to use for our shows came out of the BMS.

The only issue I have with the pedal is I haven't even owned it for a week and I am almost out of presets. One extra bank would make me feel so much better...but then again, if source gave us 9 presets then we would probably want 12.

Gastric, finally got a chance to listen to those samples....you proved your point.

It should arrive like, real soon? You and I have identical filter tastes....so I know you'll dig it. But, will it be our end all, be all? Of course not, we've got the sickness.

We're proud, we're Filter Addicts.

Gotta try my Mark SS, as you heard it the other day, it ain't bad. Just use the software, dive into it and program it with your sounds. Let me know...come grab it or I'll deliver it or meet in the middle.

True DAT.

I've run my Bass Filter Pro with HotHand off my PP2+ without any apparent issue, including off the 100ma drop. Supposedly the box + HotHand exceeds 100ma draw but I haven't personally seen any grotesque issues like it not powering on, or powering off when switching presets.

Thanks gastric

It is cheaper, but you would also lose the preset function, and a backpage menu that allows for far more tweaking of your sound. Not sure what a Crybaby Bass Wah has to do with it. You can use the BEF with an expression pedal like a wah pedal, and to me it beats the sound of my Crybaby.

The LFO is definitely the least used feature of the BEF Pro, but I have to stand by it and say it is also my personal favorite because of the new sounds it brings to the table.

It's easier to use it in a recording environment rather than a live or jamming environment given that it's a set tempo. But there are ways to get it to work for you...such as MIDI input tempo control, tap tempo, or having a drummer with outrageously good ears and sense of time.

Can any of you guys suggest a good expression pedal to try w/ the BEF Pro. I've been trying to track down the SA expression pedal with no luck.

8th Street Music is very committed to having our stuff. They are also only 1-2 days shipping from us. If they don't have one right in stock then (so long as we have them which we do) they will have one soon.
