Speaker advice

Have the original reconed!

+1 - why guess or attempt to re-engineer ? Keep it stock ...

J&J in Chicago ought to be able to assist. I dunno if Ted Weber still recones. WeberVST is in Kokomo, IN. There's 2 guys nearby. Probably other reputable reconer's in Chi Town I would guess.

There's 2 decent reconers in the Portland, OR market I would think Chi-town would have a few ...

...Hey BillyB, since you are in Chicago too, do you know of a shop in the area that do reconing?
...

I'm not much help...the only reconing work I had done (two EV SRO15s and an EVM15) was a few years ago and I sent them all to Ted Weber.

He has cut back on the non-Weber speakers that he'll recone and it doesn't look like EVM 15s are on his short list...

I'm sure that Accutrack Recording and Sound in Arlington Heights would do them (they're almost in Elk Grove Village). They advertise in the IE every month...page 31 of the March IE (www.accutrackrecording.com or (847) 437-6200 or [email protected])

I liked having Ted do them because he's equipped (as a speaker manufacturer) to remagnetize the magnet as part of his reconing service...I don't know if everyone can do that.

You might want to consider an Eminence Kappalite 3015... Available at bltsound.com for $115.50
