BTW current at 300 Watt amp power at 4 Ohm load is not greater then 5 Ampere RMS at full amp power (at the edge of clipping)

But 5A is still a lot of current for a connector intended to carry microamps. The contact area is tiny.

Hmmm ... most people have been using quarter-inch plugs and jacks for speaker connections for at least 50 years. Speakons are better, but quarter-inch works just fine.

Actually Munji, i've had to replace several of the plastic speaker jacks, ala Marshal, because they melted.

But none of them are still being built, are they? I think most players of electric instruments still use ¼-inch plugs on their speaker cables. Not that I'd use them. I use Speakon®​ exclusively because, as I said, they're better for a number of reasons. My point is that the ¼-inch plugs will work with little risk of issues.

Speakon Schmeakon our PA speakers dont even have spoeakons...1/4 inch only!

They are old P-R-O speakers loaded with all Electro Voice components. Theyre rippers for sure.

I wouldn't use anything but a single cable- cobbling together cables is OK at line level but it's just asking for trouble at speaker level. Murphy's Law, and all that. O'Toole's Corrollary to Murphy's Law- "Murphy was an optimist".
