Speaker replacement on Mesa/Boogie Powerhouse 6x10

I recently acquired a Mesa Powerhouse 6x10 with a punctured speaker in the center left position. I've changed speakers on previous cabs that I've owned, but this one seems more difficult. I've removed all the screws on the face of the speaker, however, it is still immovable. Does Mesa glue their speakers into the cabinets? The only reason I ask is because I've not encountered this in any of the four or five cabinets I've replaced speakers in. If they do in fact glue them in, how does one remove the glue on the speaker? Is there a solvent that should be used? Or am I just dumb?

I had to do one in my PH 8x10 last month.

There's a foam strip on the backside of the speaker frame, and its' glue is what gets sticky and makes the speaker stick in place. I used a bent flathead screwdriver I have and carefully pryed the 10" up.

Getting under the gasket - carefully - with an exacto knife will help... As mentioned, the speakers are gasketed in, with a sticky side on both sides of the gasket...


You DO know that those 610 speakers aren't common "off the shelf" speakers, right??? To my knowledge, Mesa is the only source for proper replacements...

Thanks for the info. I'll give that a shot. Also, I am aware that they're not off the shelf speakers, I've got a replacement on the way already. Just got to get the bugger unhooked by Thursday for a gig so it's not all rattly and such.

You can also pull a handle, reach in and push from behind the speaker to help it's removal...
