Speakers for a NCM Vox T-60 Cabinet? HELP!

Hello,

I was thinking of getting one of North Coast Music's T-60 cabs.
It takes a 12" and a 15" speaker in a sealed cabinet.

Measuring in at 36" x 19" x 11.75" with 3/4" for the plywood I figure the internal volume as 3.5813 cubic feet without subtracting speaker volume. I need the speakers to be Neodymium for weight. I was thinking of a LF 15" and a 12" Mid with a crossover. What would work the best for these three components?

Has anyone had experience doing this?

Depends on what you are trying to do.

As you lay it out, with a LF specific 15" and what seems like the idea to add a Guitar 12" speaker, yes, you would need a x-over, likely in the 150-500hz range, two ways.

Emminence makesthe Definimax 4015LF which is a massive woofer for sealed enclosures, but I'm not sure how much volume it's looking for, you might want to check that out.

IS it all one compartment or is the 12" in it's own chamber? If it's al one airspace you might want to move along to another cabinet design, whether you go Woofer+ MId or woofer + woofer...

You might want to PM johnK10. He has experience with VOX cabinets. Personally I hated the T60 in every way. The SS head was unreliable and the two differing size woofers didn't react too well with each other. I ended up buying the AC50 Foundation as my first amp. Gawd! That was a long time ago. :(

Used to use a pair of T60s 20 odd years ago. The original speakers had been replaced with Altecs cheap range of speakers, sorry, can't remember the name of them now. Were they Stage Sound? No crossover just a 15" and a 12" in each cab. No damping either. They sounded fantastic with the Roost 100w valve / tube head I had at the time. Had a 4001 as well. One of the best sounds that I ever had.

Sadly the Roost died and I replaced it with a GK 200w something and it didn't sound good at all so back to changing gear to achieve that elusive sound again. Wish I still had them.

The definimax is looking for 2 cubic feet or less in a sealed enclosure.
I'm not an expert, but building a sub chamber for a 12" guitar speaker, and havinga custom x-over built with a low x-over point could make that a nice beast. I say custom crossover because the lowest off the shelf eminence crossover point is 500hz. I would think you would want to cross lower to get more of the guitar drivers tone involved. Going as high as 500hz would make me think of ways of using adapter rings and a smaller mid driver, perhaps an 8" driver.

alternatively you could use a close backed 8" driver in an adapter ring and port the cab. The 500hz would likely work in that scenario.

I'm not an expert, do more research before you go buying components.

IF you want to use no crossover and full range speakers no one can predict hwo the cab will behave, and without a subdivider it would not be recommended.
