Speakon Cable

Hi guys,

Is there any difference (other than the obvious) between a Speakon to Speakon cable and a Speakon to Quarter Inch? Is the sound quality the same? Any other differences if there are any.

No difference in sound. Speakons are obviously better for security, safety, etc.

No sound difference. Speakons are just a stronger, more stable connection. Plus, no POP when plugging/unplugging a Speakon cable when juice is running through it. Also, if you're running more than 500 watts through one cable, a Speakon plug will handle the current load better than a 1/4" plug will.


You know... Neutrik now makes a jack that's a Speakon and 1/4" combo... very convenient for upgrades...

1/4 inch you need to solder connections, speakons are dry, screw connections (well, Neutrik anyway). So if youre rubbish with a soldering iron (me) then their the best bet!
