I'm definitely going. After finally meeting Sam in person and having a great time, I am ready to meet more of my Spector family.

So, is it just me or are ReBops not easy to come across anymore? I've been searching high and low for a 5er and there are barely any used and as far as I can find, only BassCentral has some new.

There must be a a brief dry spell. ReBops are generally readily available. The Guitar Center used section usually has quite a few, as does eBay. Though I must admit, I mostly see 4 stringers.

I went through this with NS2A's when I finally had the cash to pick one up. Their were quite a few available in the weeks leading up to me being ready to buy one. When I had the cash in hand it was a month or so until another one popped up. But it made it all the sweeter when the right one appeared.

So I got my NS2A in yesterday! Brought it home and spent some time cleaning it up and doing some work on it. The pots were so scratchy that one barely worked. After hitting it with some cleaner/lube a couple times it's almost normal. The nut is so worn that it rattles on 3 of the 4 strings and it needs to have the frets dressed.

Anyway, after rigging the nut slots to stop the rattle and getting the pots working I played her for a good couple hours. I Love it! Even with pretty dead strings it still has that great Spector sound! The neck is fantastic and plays like a dream! I think I'll bring her to practice tonight as is and have at it.

Most NS-2A's I have owned or seen have really worn/low slotted nuts.

This place on ebay sells a nut that fits in perfect for a NS-2A.
You will just need to shave 1-2mm off the bottom and it will fit fine. It comes 43MM X 9MM X 6MM

I took Sams advice on this a couple of months ago. I did two NS2A's at once! It was a simple project, one of them did require a little of shaving down.

I've had a sweet black cherry early rebop five for sale for about 3 months now in the classifieds! It has upgraded DC pickups and a BQC preamp...........lol. I JUST agreed to trade it for a MESA M6....but it was around for a LONG time for $700

Surprised no one pointed it out..........myself included! LOL

There is a natural on GC.com for $599 in New Jersey with inlays. Looks to be decent. Price is less than half cost new street pricing. If you want one badly hop on that one!

Done! Thanks For the tip! I've also got some gold hardware coming for it, tuners, bridge, etc.. sounds like I'll have a good project in a week or so!

Can't wait to get it all up to snuff! I've got a gig this weekend and I think I'm going to bring this and my 55-02 with me.

I was looking at mine and there is no serial number on the control cover. I know the earlier ones did not have a serial number. Does that mean it is likely an '87? Anyone know when they started putting the serial numbers in the NS2A's?

Maybe we could ask PJ about this. I don't like to bug him with questions on old stuff. But if several guys want to know....
