I do use the heavy black beauties on 2 basses, they are great for sabbath but otherwise way less bright and feel rubbery to me.

So, for years I used GHS Boomers on my Spector NS2. They worked fine but I never had a thought to experiment.
Now with my new Euro I was thinking of trying something different. I don't want to completely loose the familar growl but would like to trim off the highs and mids just a bit. I still have a huge interest in the GHS Presssure Wounds. I kind of prefer low tension. Anyone try anything like that or close to it?
I use the GHS Pressure Wounds on my P Bass and love them. I've considered trying a set on my Spector's but my gut tells me they will be too mellow. I've tried a lot of diffferent strings and always go back to DR Fat Beams.
I know what you mean. I have a drop tuner on my P/J NS2, and when we go into the solos in Highway Star I flip that lever and start grinding away on that low D and it Rocks!I think my new Euro was made for drop D. Played a little with a pick in that tuning and as the teenage girls say.....OMG......talk about a nasty, grindy tone. And that was straight to my power amp and cab. OK, back to keeping the kids away for a while......![]()
Are you still thinking a preamp change is needed or have you been able to dial in something your liking?Had a set of Spector 603's arrive on my Euru 5 ltd, i could not get them off the bass fast enough, turned out that was my issue with the tone of the bass.
Excellent Anton! Must have pics and a review when you get a chance.Forte SS Helium crossed the boarder today....now waiting for EMS courier. Counting hours to get it. Hope to grab it before Saturday when we play at open air gig.

How long will the wait be for you in total Anton, this seems like a very fast purchase on a new build?Forte SS Helium crossed the boarder today....now waiting for EMS courier. Counting hours to get it. Hope to grab it before Saturday when we play at open air gig.

Carey, it's 4 weeks total since it was shipped from Woodstock. But note that I bought a readymade bass, not ordered it from scratch. How long will the wait be for you in total Anton, this seems like a very fast purchase on a new build?
