It's funny because I didn't think I'd like BEM (always thought it was pretty though) and I didn't think I'd like the DW neck profile either. But after playing it at the Hang I realized I was wrong on both counts.

If I had the cash, I would take it and those DCBs. Always the never ending struggle of mortgage or Spector/Bass stuff.

On a side note to everyone........
I wasn't able to be at the Hang for personal reasons, but it's really cool and amazing that the VP of Spector would entrust this group with a design for a LE Euro Bass. That being said, has anyone thought of using the "Survey Monkey" website to compile a vote / idea poll to streamline everyone's thoughts and ideas? Also, I will openly admit I have none / zero / nothing in the way of experience with painting or finishing a guitar. Only wall and ceiling paint for my knowledge base. But I was always under the impression the more colors and design on a body, equals more labor costs and higher price. But all that aside, I've been drooling over the idea of chrome hardware on a solid color bass. Plus knowing financially I'll be in a more stable position in a couple months to purchase one is even better

Just to clarify, like all the LE Euros, it's PJ's design, but he asked the group for ideas/suggestions. In the end, he's gonna do what ever he thinks will be best for the company.

He said he has already decided on:
4 strings
chrome hardware
Aggie pickups (most likely)

So that narrows it down a bit.

I'm confident we'll knock his socks off with all these great ideas.

I like it but I've also had a BTS in a few other basses and it always seems to sound similar. I guess I knew what to expect. May do some preamp swapping to something with some mid control. Currently I'm super pleased with the balanced tone and quietness of this system.

Hello Spector Club, first post here. I recently picked up a Euro 5LX which has been handed down from a couple Talkbass members, and would like to join the club! This bass is my first Spector I've owned, and is definitely a keeper! This beast is the classic walnut sandwiched between maple and alder with neckthough body and a natural oil finish. Best sounding bass I own! Picked it up for 900$ Canadian. I'll probably post some pics soon, might give it a wax :P

I have a couple questions regarding some specifications on this bass though. Do the saddles in Spector bridges come filed? The saddles in my Euro are filed and for some reason have a slightly larger spacing between the E and A strings at the bridge. It's slight, and I can deal with it, but it's definitely noticeable. I can also push the E string just out of its file, closer to the A string, and it will stay in place regardless of playing, so that's alright. A possibly stupid question, but would the individual saddles be able to be taken out and placed back in backwards to move the filing to the opposite of the center of the saddle? I have set up the bridge already and dealt with the odd free-saddle configuration, but I was just wondering if this would be possible with the strings off the bass or by some other scenario.

I believe the slots in the nut may be filed down a bit too much too. The G string is filed down to about 125% of it's diameter, fully in the nut. The D and A strings are also barely, if even, flush with the top of the nut. E is barely poking out too. The B, as it's usual beastly self (especially on this bass) is sitting high and fine though.

I haven't had any issues with the bass yet, my biggest concern is the G string buzzing due to it's low height. I am wanting to put slightly different layout of gauge strings on this bass: more balanced, bottom will be thicker, top will be slightly lighter, overall more tension (according to the charts :P) I was wondering if the filing job on the saddles and/or nut would pose a problem. As far as I know there is a set of "50s" on this bass according to the guy I bought it from. I believe it's a .135 - .050 set, from the look and feel of them. They were over a year old when I bought the bass, but don't play too bad at all. I have them set up in G# C# F# B E and the tension is alright, I play pretty light and can somewhat comfortably dig in when need be.

What I am wanting to do is throw on a set of Circle K Traditional .142 - .047 gauge strings. I'll post some pictures soon regarding the nut filing and the bridge spacing. For now I suppose my only question is: How is it replacing a nut on a Spector Euro 5LX? Also, mine has the gold hardware (brass nut) if that makes any difference.
