Nope... luv 'em. I quit playing flats and tapes decades ago, except on my frettless basses, and my up rights.

Personally, I have never played on better strings period. But, if you need to sound of flats, maybe not an option for you. But the Optimas are the best strings manufactured.

My USA NS4 order was done with PJ before NAMM. And is processed and paid for. I wanted to get an order in before NAMM, since they always get some orders coming in with NAMM and advertising. I did not go through a dealer. But I knew since the Korg announcement orders would be increasing. So one never knows. Hopefully I'm only waiting 6 months. But good luck.

That's great and I get it. I have a preferred dealer who's been great with me through purchases of 2 FBass and 1 Fodera. He also deals with Spector, which was one of the factors for me choosing Spector this year.

I will definitely keep them on my list of strings to try!
After getting the bass yesterday and spending a solid three hours doing a setup (break down, battery change, cleaning, oiling fretboard, polishing frets, restringing, adding shim, reassembling, relief/action adjustments, pickup height dialed in) I ended up putting on a set of Rotosound Swing 66 Nickels I had laying around.
WOW, this bass sounds and plays terrific now. Interesting sound comparison to my Warwick. While the Warwick has a stomp and growl character, the Spector has sting and bite. LOVE IT!

One thing I can say about Spector, is that they had good customer relations. PJ did an outstanding job answering my questions, and helping me out. Their basses look amazing. I had a few issues along the way with some of my builds. But, my last build turned out to be about as perfect as you could expect. I was thinking about possibly having another bass built in the future, but that may not happen. Time will tell...

Yep I remember. This 5LT looked so awesome though. If they could drop their weight to 8,5 lbs I'd be all after it.

Spent a few hours this weekend tracking bass on our band's upcoming album. Used both the Euro LX and the CR-P. Ran both through my Darkglass Vintage Deluxe and an Eden WTDI from the Darkglass' parallel out. Direct into Logic with an 4x10 cab sim on the Eden and a 2x15 cab sim on the Darkglass. Panned slightly off center. Sounded massive. Half rounds on the Euro LX that has the GZR P and a DiMarzio Model J. Rounds on the CR-P with the tone nearly rolled all the way off. Just to add a little depth, I swapped the Darkglass out on a few track to add some slow flanger and octave down from my Boss ME50b. Sent three individual lines with that set up, with the Boss stereo split panned a little wider and the Eden right down the middle.
