So another update on my NS2A purchase that turned out to be a scam: I opened a dispute with PayPal a couple of days ago but received an email earlier today saying I had cancelled the case when I certainly did not. So I rang their customer service and they did indeed think I had cancelled it. Seemed quite suspect to me. So I corrected them and have escalated it to a claim.

They said the seller has 10 days to respond to which I told them it was a scam advert so the seller is obviously not going to respond. They said they would make sure to review the "merchant's" account and that they would not allow them to do business on PayPal in the future. As if that stops them from opening another account and trying again :meh: so apparently I just have to wait it out now for my refund. Fingers crossed it all works out.

That's such the coincidence. I called PayPal today, also.
PayPal CS has been very helpful, lately.
I got a notice that my claim against Adam Rushka for the Euro4lx was closeded because I didn't escalate it by the certain date.
Talked to CS, Explained that contact had indeed been made and the seller promised to ship the following weekend but had not so, I still hadn't received it.
They issued a refund on the spot.:hyper:

Well, that sucks. But at least you got your money back.

From my experience the Pulse is about a 7. The Euros, to me, feel much more refined, and the Euro necks feel more solid. If you never play a Euro or a US NS, you won't notice it. But if you do, you'll see the difference right away.

A good reference could be that the Pulse basses are similar to Lakland Indonesian quality (which is a decently high bar to reach,) but at least Spector kept the "hidden fret" option on Pulse line. It's only really an NS body in it's overall shape. It lacks the NS curve to the body and doesn't balance the same way. It's more traditional and squared off.
Well dang...
I'll check out the Pulse when they get one in, but I dont really need another bass in that range.

(Please excuse the post duplication, as I also posted this question earlier on the general TB "Basses" forum.)

For a while I've been playing with the idea of picking up a Spector Euro 4. Recently a used one in excellent condition (serial number NB 13621) showed up on Musician's Friend Used Gear page. Their 45 day return policy (where I'd only pay the shipping of about $25 to return it) made it impossible for me to resist.

Anyway, I don't know a lot about Spector Euro 4 models. But everything I've seen recently shows them with gold tuners and bridge, and EMG pickups. But this one I bought has chrome hardware, and Bartolini pickups.

So I'm wondering what the specific version of this Spector Euro 4 this one might be, and when it might have been built. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Appears to be one of these

Spector Euro4 LX - Tobacco Sunburst Gloss

(Also Appears to be sweet! Congrats )

I may be wrong about this, but I think the Euros with Barts debuted in 2017.

I had one just like that I sold in 2020. I loved that Tobacco Sunburst finish and it had the nicest feeling neck, but had one bass too many. I liked the Barts, too, even if they were a touch too polite (actually, it's that smoothness I liked).

As soon as I hit POST, I realized that maybe it was 2016 when those came out and I am mixing it up with the Euro 77 LE release. The last few years have been a big jumble though. Now I can't recall if I really sold that bass in 2020 or 2021, lol.

Thanks for all the help and info.

One additional (and potentially stupid!) question.

I figured out the pop-out battery holder, and even the top piece of that that holds the battery in, and then rotates out of the way. I took the old battery out, and then realized I had no way of telling which contact in the battery holder compartment goes to which terminal (+ or -) of the new battery! I don't see any kind of markings in the compartment to guide me.

Help?

Almost pretty sure that the battery will only go in one way in those compartments. Even if it does go in either way, it'll only work ONE way. You got this...

There's always a +/- marking on those things somewhere (IME). Maybe molded into the side of the compartment? Something ypu can only see when you swing it open?

Quick question:

How close, or far, is the neck pickup supposed to be to the strings? My NS-2 sounds incredible, but it has a bit less output than my other Spectors. The P pickup is pretty far away from the strings. It's way further away than the P on my NS Pulse. I initially assumed that was because it was 9v HAZ vs TPjr, but I'm not so sure. Both basses are stock and I haven't messed with the pickups on either bass.

I'm using a Spark mini to boost the NS-2 to bring it up to NS-5XL level, but I'd rather just "fix" my NS-2. If anyone has the measurements or any ideas, help a brotha' out. Thanks!
I just posted recently how my Legend with the tonepump Jr and Barts pales in comparison to the BTS of my NS4CR and my Chapman with Duncan BO and Audere. The Audere has the most output.
