Those have the same volute as on all Euros. Just an unformed bump, not the shaped/carved volute on the US builds.

OT but, how do you like the AT410+ ? How it is tone-wise?
Have a Grbass dual1400 and I love it, but never tried any Grbass AT cab...
I haven't heard anything so clear and full! It's honestly worth every penny, blows anything i've previously used out of the water, and at ~15kgs it's a laugh riot to schlep around.
I really want an AT610 now, but that's way out of my price range at the moment (plus, I honestly don't have a real need for one right now).

Narrow like a jazz bass, but deeper front-to-back.

Yes, both the '77 & '79 have volutes. & no they are not like the ones on all the other Euro's. The '77 volute & the '79 volute are different from each other as well.
Sweet, thanks for the info. I've read that the neck profile is thinner on these than the typical Euro models - is that so? If so, are they as thin and annoying as Ibanez necks? (I have long fingers so find the necks of the Euros and my Rickys to be near-perfect)

The neck profiles are different & thinner then the standard Euro's, but not too thin. The '77 is slightly thinner than the '79. Nut width is standard Spector 1.64". I have longer hands & I absolutely love these basses, both in feel & sound! These two basses are the best non American Spector's out there. They are special basses. There is nothing like the earthy growl of walnut, & the DiMarzio's are amazing pickups!

So I'm thinking a brass nut for sure on this, and then a different pre? Even though it instantly had me remembering why I love Spectors so much!!
Tuners need to be GB707s' just cause....pretty sure I had a post about 9 or 10 years ago about how they would look all Flintstones-ish with the Spector headstock....? And I have put them on any bass pre-drilled for that style for as long as I can remember!
I can recall actually being a cork sniffin Spectorite and snubbing the Rebops'.....I recant my previous sentiments for sure! I am glad to have another Spector after many years, and ready for a Euro 5'er again!!!

Has anyone ever swapped just the key between a GB-7 and a GB-707? Just wondering for the purposes of installing a bass extender for a GB-7 on a GB-707 equipped bass.
