I play the NS-4 the most, as it is one of two basses that I keep in stands and within reach. The other is my Pedulla fretless 5-stringer (which I play more than anything else lately). I have asked Santa for a 5-guitar rack, so that I can keep the Webster and the NS-4CR out too.
I use the Pedulla and the NS-4CR for band stuff right now, but I take the NS-4 to certain (non-punk) shows.
I like the fretless NS4 that I got but lately I have been playing the Coda P for some reason, its two or three weeks of NS2 then two or three weeks of NS4...now...two or three weeks of Coda! lol

Some unbelievable basses here guys. I'm luvin' it!

Here's one of the rooms where I play my Spectors the most... Our rehearsal room. :D Getting a much needed cleaning.

Observations:

1. Is that your Trace head on the bottom shelf?
2. Speaking of which, that bottom shelf is bowing quite a bit. Heavy load on that thing. I'd hate to see that Trace head on the floor unexpectedly.
3. I was very happy with the lack of butt-crack in that photo, as there was definite potential there! :D

1. Yeah, that's the Trace Preamp. I'm keeping it as a fall back. I can always get a good sound from it matched with any power amp.
2. You can't see it but there's a brace behind the Ampeg speaker cabs. It's actually pretty sturdy. But yeah, won't be putting anything else on there. ;)
3. That's Bob my drummer. He's not a butt crack kind of guy. :D

Does anyone play through an SWR rig? I just started playing with a cover band, and we practice at one of the guitarists' house. He has a SWR head and a 210 cab, so I have been playing through it (he offered, and not lugging an amp to practice is A-OK).
I find that thing to be extremely high-endy. I play the NS-4CR through it, and I can't seem to dial in a deep, growly tone. It's growly, but high-end, so it sounds kind of grindy.

Anyway, enough silly adjectives. Any input from other SWR owners is welcome. Admittedly, I haven't even looked at the amp model, so I'm not sure which one it is. I'll make a note to do that next week at practice.

This is a ymmv statement, but when I used to try and play through SWR rigs at rehearsal studios, that was my exact experience as well. Super "clanky" sounding for lack of a better term. Lots of high end, no real booty.

That being said I wasn't very good with parametric EQs then. Now I'd probably try to cut around 6k+ to remove "sizzle" and boost somewhere in the 80-160 range and go from there.

I contacted PJ at Spector today and inquired about a HAZ preamp for another Spector I have on the way. It currently has a TonePump in it.
I went ahead and ordered a HAZ preamp. Cost 500.00 plus 11.00 shipping.
He told me that they just had some come in, so it was good timing.
I sure hope I like the way it sounds.
Of course, if I dont, it won't be a problem getting my money back out of it.

Interested to know how the HAZ compares to the Aguilar OBP-3? I have an OBP-3 in my trans blue/black
NS4CRFM and I love the tone.

You had that one up for sale before didn't ya? Oh boy! More gas!!! I'm gonna start saving my pennies now!!!
Yes I did. There was not very much interest so I pulled it from the classifieds. It will move someday! I will just never play it! It will stay pristine and a MM114 HAZ copy will go with it. Since I am gonna move my 4 existing euros eventually and just have 4 US models.

Well, as soon as I have funds available, I'll get in touch with you. Guess I should have asked you about it.
What year is it, and is it a LX model? The MM114 is the Mighty Mite HAZ clone correct?

I will have a 4 string Jazz/Jazz with Geezers(passive), and US 9v Spector built for me whenever I sell my Rex4 US 007! Not sure if it will be a Forte style or a full blown deal, but that would give me all the tonal options I could ask for with what I have already....which is a bunch!:)
