Hey,

I bought a brand new Spector Euro LX5 bass about two weeks ago.
The bass is beautiful but I have a little problem.

If I use it with effect pedals and I don't connect it direct to the amp then the sound is not clean, it's distorted (with the effect pedals turned on or off). I tried the pedals separately, still not clean.
Also the pedals work great with other basses.
I took the bass to set up. So I don't think that the problem is the strings being to close to the pickups.

When I don't use any effects it's clean and working fine. I think it's because the bass have a powerful signal. But I'd really like to use it with effects.

Open up the control cavity. On you preamp there should be a switch to adjust the output of the pre. It's probably maxed, just slide it back a bit and try that.

Spector uses a boost-only preamp in their Euro models. It generates a fairly hot signal.

If there's an internal trimpot or slider, use it and turn it down. Otherwise, you're stuck with keeping your volume knob a bit lower.
